10/20/2008Maxxis’ Ryan Tuerk was named Driver of the Year for the 2008 Formula Drift series. Tuerk’s fellow drifters and their crew members chose him for the prestigious award, which was presented October 12 at Formula Drift’s annual banquet.
The New Hampshire native finished sixth overall for the series, racking up 453 points during the season’s seven rounds. “It feels great,” said Tuerk. “It’s quite an honor to have received this from my peers.”
Brandon Bentley of Maxxis’ automotive department was pleased by Tuerk’s award: “What Ryan was able to do this year with a new vehicle as well as a new team really shows his abilities. To be voted this award by his peers is a tremendous honor. We are definitely proud of his performance. This recognition also shows the commitment of his team at Gardella Racing to prepare and have his vehicle ready in competitive mode at all events in 2008. We look forward to what they will do with a full year in the series under their belt.”
Maxxis-sponsored drivers have won this honor two years in a row: Chris Forsberg was Formula Drift Driver of the Year in 2007.
Maxxis congratulates Ryan Tuerk on this outstanding achievement and thanks him for choosing the brand of champions.
